Summahtime 2022

We have a couple of shows in the works; please visit here often for updated details. The sun is coming out, which is good for us here in Oregon. I need to embrace it this year. It’s tough to be goth in the summer. Last year we did this gig on the outdoor stage at the World Famous Kenton Club. This is a song off of Deerpath and it’s swooney enough that we keep returning to it.

Pandemic Musings

We posted some new songs we have done during 2020-21. Just for fun and therapy ! Yes, keeping up with the Class M Planets dream has kept us busy during the past year. Here are two examples, they will be available later in a more official format with a bunch of others ! Hallelujah 🙂

Song 1: Constellations

Song 2: Diabolical

New “Molasses” single

“Yer Wings” Video Premiere

Today, Psychedelic Baby Magazine is premiering the new video for “Yer Wings” which is the third track on the new record, Ravenswood.

The Video

“The idea behind the video was to shine a little spotlight on the individual personalities in the band and just have fun experimenting with arty images to contrast with the more candid stuff. With 75% of the band members being filmmakers, it was a great time for pooling all our cameras, lenses, lights, and ideas for sexy slo-mo shots of us drinking beer.”  – David (bassist/filmmaker)

The Song

“The song was begun during the aftermath of a near-miss I had with a category 5 hurricane in Mexico.  The storm died by the time it reached land but the combination of catastrophic fear and the joy of survival leaked their way into a new chord progression that became ‘Yer Wings’.  The song is both intense and sweet, the way I see it.  It’s clearly wrestling with something but it arrives at simple results.   The song was meant to explore a large range of the emotional color palate and it then allowed us to continue doing so into the future.  As time progresses, our original intentions evolve into something new.  I think the Yer Wings video shows the friendship between the Class M Planets band members and emphasizes the human story behind this song.”  -Adam (singer/wordsmith)

Video Premiere

Summer 2020

Ravenswood is coming out July 10th and we couldn’t be happier. It took something like 5 years after the first one, Deerpath, for Ravenswood to reach its fruition. We put in a lot of hours over that time creating something that was unique in such a way that if felt like a genuine expression. People are sometimes surprised at our sound after seeing our phantasmagoric record covers, expecting 15 minute progressive rock odysseys that match the mythical creatures and environments found on our albums. We use the fantasy images to highlight all the imagination that exists out in the world, at our fingertips. We can dream about undiscovered color palates and foreign words that revolutionize the familiar. The artwork of Ravenswood is a tribute to thebrotheregg album that we did in 2001, Snowflake and Fingerprint Machine.

The weird creature on the Ravenswood cover wanders the countryside clearly blanketing every surface with snow and can be seen in some instances as individual fingerprint snowflakes. The original “machine” was conceived as a creative engine- very much a tribute to the idea that we can all create art and that there is a uniqueness in each of use that seeks a voice.

A lazy description for Class M Planets and the new album, Ravenswood, might be Art Rock. We prefer any description that enables us to feel as though we are permitted to do ANYTHING in regards to style or aesthetic decision making. We love to write and imagine the process as some form of world building. We are grateful to be on our own label, Treefort Lounge, where we can pretty much do whatever we want. With help from the great folks at XO Publicity and our wonderful community of friends and supporters, we are able bring to you, with beams of love, Ravenswood.
